Harry On Blogging and Pesta Blogger 2007

Pesta blogger was an event dedicated to bloggers, people who shows enthusiasm for sharing what they know, believe, like and want to share on line via cyberspace. Although there was no clear term defined and which should have been to set boundaries of those who qualify as such.

It was an event that had to be a national event. Jakarta's blitzmegaplex was the place that had the chance to be chosen prior to this was another place, but since it was not large enough the latter was opted for such event.

The people responsible for this to happen was Enda Nasution aka 'Bapak Blogger Indonesia' and the people at Maverick (a PR organisation) and bubu.com. And of course the bloggers.

Hopefully what came out of that was a drive to have an alternative new voice alongside the mainstream media. And, as said, a Blogging Centre would be created to provide an outlet and channel these aspiration into a positive activity for the younger generation of Indonesian.

Harry On Leaving a Mark

A discussion with a peer and also a friend on reading materials i.e. good books lead to an interesting thing: leaving a mark.

The norm for someone in this world is to leave something behind for others to explore is indeed a fine and satisfying idea. This notion of investment do lead the individual to wonder and ponder on how this mark would be left behind.

A point in mind kept my gray-cells to Hollywood where the Walk of Fame has in fact drawn in many to contribute on leaving a mark.

Harry On Future Events

A colleague at on time felt surprise that anyone can have a future looking attitude towards death in a vibrant way.

Indeed this needed some tactical thinking in presenting an argument.

But in an everyday actions and events anyone wishing to do something good in the time to come, not necessarily that long in time to come, will indeed have a preparation to do such an enjoyable actions.

Let's say we want to plan an event during the weekend. But alas the weekend is still days ahead, wouldn't we be looking forward to such event?

Harry On Saying NO

Just say NO if you can't handle some things.

Why is it so difficult? Is it because we are educated by elders that saying NO would be unwise.

Or would it also entails that we may make enemies when saying NO.

Just say NO to drugs for example.
Just say NO to more work coming in.
Just say NO if you can't keep promises you can't keep.

How would we react are a case by case indeed.

So, maybe you would say, yeah I know the feeling...

Harry On Tribute

Tribute is relating to a certain token of appreciation that one has and not necessarily identified by others as such. It could resemble a blabbering and irrational output on linguistically unsound bursts.

In any case the message should be understood by another party is what counts.

PIG a special term that in general has conotative meaning in everyday sense of a:

My son, only seven, is influenced so much by his friends and the WORLD CUP, to his mother and me, my son whines and tries to get himself a football outfit and the ball. Yes, the new refined ball. I guess that's what kids are for. Luckily, though my son is still 'controlable'. The funny things is he puts his outfit and shows off and lets other kids play with his football. Oh...boy.

In Jakarta, Indonesia, the time differences does not deter real-fans from watching football (soccer) despite the fact some matches are on very late at night. In Indonesia, the only channel broadcasted by SCTV air these games on at these times 20:00, 23:00 and at 02:00 (WIB - Indonesia time zone +7 GMT).

I guess these dedicated fans pride themselves on watching at these times energized by supplements such as ready made drink in cool bottles.

But, I would prefer to supply myself with a can of soda, Coca-cola or Pepsi.

Harry On World Cup 2006

WORLD CUP 2006 indeed. This addiction seems to have an effect on everyone not least in countries like Indonesia, China, and even the US, hence their countrymen in Germany are rooted by their families back home.

Some fans, watch them on their latest telly such as LCDs, Flat screen, etc. and some even go to great length to watch them at certain strategic location such as the ones organized by SCTV in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Harry On 'My Girl' (Korean Drama)

It's funny, Hollywood is a fad for me now. I'm into Korean soap operas, yes, My Girl, is the one I'm talking about. Funny how a guy can watch a drama then brag about it, well the influence is not mine alone, it was my wife's doing. She watches it and I got hooked on it.

Anyway, at the moment, this June, I'm still looking for and watching these Korean flicks, whether these are dramas or just a film.

At least with this, it is an alternative instead of just watching and seeing American culture in action.

Before this Korean thing, it was European. The likes of Monica Belluci in Malèna, Irréversible and others.

Harry On Natural Disaster

Time passed, it's been a while since I've been putting something on this blog of mine. And, things happen so much. 'Calamities' is a word that fits perfectly illustrating several events in recent months: Mount Merapi and Yogya earthquake. The worst happening was and is still going on and that can fall on us Indonesian since the tsunami in Aceh back in 2004/2005. Well, I guess the bad, sad things, that I think nature has power over these tragedies may not just be happening in Indonesia, the World is experiencing similar stuff. Wouldn't you agree? Nevertheless, some wise men says that the things happened because it is the harvest of our own doing.

Anyway, I guess with the event of the World Cup or Piala Dunia in the month of June, people will forget the sorrows for a while. I don't know though, whether after all has passed in Germany, people will realise the reality, again. I fear people don't have the drive to go on, then again I can't be so pessimistic, gotta be positive, optimistic and let people have hope instead of falling into despair.

All I can say is GOOD LUCK people. "May the Force be with you".

Harry On Coffee

Jakarta...one fine afternoon

Who doesn't know coffee? It has a bitter taste without sugar of course yet for some it relieves the body and charges back energy. For me, coffee is coffee.

I drink coffee with and without sugar. I drink coffee when I'm tired yet when it's time to sleep I sleep. No influences from caffeine. Does this happen to anyone else? I wonder...

Here's the thing, I had coffee with a client in Starbucks, so I ordered an espresso, the cup is small yet you have a thick coffee, people say this small cup can make your eyes open up WIDE. Anyway, I drank the espresso, drove home, on the way felt sleepy. So, where's that magic huh?

Anyway, I am a coffee and tea lover. There's no harm in liking the two together. Unlike some people who is a fanatic of coffee or tea, the two cannot mix. But for me, it's a drink, for God sake.

Harry On Photography

I like taking pictures, then, it was with an SLR Canon T70. At that time for a teenager it was cool. I took lots of pictures of friends and took several pictures of certain animals. There was one that I remember, it was a dragonfly.

During the school term break I went to my parents' hometown in Bogor. The place was close to rice fields. I was on one rice field then, and the rice has already been harvested.

The field was dry. There were many dragonflies around. Fortunately I saw one dragonfly staying still on a grass. I got closer to it. Then, with the telephoto lens, I shot a picture.

It was only a one shot.

Then, I got it developed. Yes, you had to develop the films, very primitive you might say. Anyway, got the pictures processed, and it turned out A-OKAY.

A cousin of mine asked if I could lend him the camera for a competition. I lent him the camera with my dragonfly pic, and thank God, he won First Prize.

The booty was cash, certificate and a photography book. I didn't get the cash but I got the book. It was a great team work. Anyway this was in 1992.

A long time ago huh?

Phew, time flies when you're having fun, they say, but I think these days time flies anyway even if you are not having any fun at all. Wonder, why it is.

Browsing the Internet for TIME... guess where I got to for the first line up. Yes, it's "TIME" Magazine. But frankly I am thinking of time-as in "this". Try this "On TIME", interesting indeed how people "have measured used,and thought about time over the past 300 years."

Well, talking about time, we can't get by without looking at these time-pieces now can we? ROLEX or SEIKO.
